2: BEIJING - Forbidden City

Your exploration of Beijing begins at the vast open Tiananmen Square in the heart of the city. Stroll through the Gate of Heavenly Peace and enter the Forbidden City, the world’s best preserved imperial palace complex and the residence of Chinese emperors from the Ming through to the Qing dynasties. This extraordinary walled complex, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site was the seat of Imperial power for 500 years and is truly a masterpiece of Chinese architecture. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to relax at the hotel or continue exploring Beijing. Optional Tour: See the charm of old Beijing through the ‘Hutongs’ – the back alleys. 3: BEIJING - Jade Museum & The Great Wall

Today, the first stop will be at a local jade carving workshop to learn about the history of Chinese jade culture. Then an exciting visit to China’s most iconic symbol – the Great Wall. Once you set foot on the wall, you will be impressed by the longest, oldest and most labour-intensive projects in mankind’s history. Climb the ramparts of this ancient wonder to view the beautiful mountain passes, plateaus and grasslands from atop this 7th century defensive fortification. Optional Tour: ‘The Golden Mask Dynasty’ performance. (Cost $60 per person)

4: BEIJING / WUXI (High-speed train experience)

This morning visit Tong Ren Tang to learn about traditional Chinese medicine. Enjoy some free time to shop in Wangfujing, one of the most famous shopping streets in Beijing. Then transfer to the railway station and enjoy a 6-hour high-speed train journey from Beijing to Wuxi. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for one night at Swiss Bel Hotel or similar.

This morning visit Li Lake Park and view Taihu Lake, the second biggest fresh water lake of China. Make a stop at Freshwater Cultured Pearl Factory and then drive to Suzhou, known for its canals, bridges, pagodas, and beautiful gardens. Visit Shantang Street, a prosperous ancient street block built in 852 AD where you will see many featured old houses selling local food, delicate handicrafts and feel the real flavour of old Suzhou and Wu culture in ancient times. Stay one night at Vienna International Hotel or similar. Optional Tour: Grand Canal Cruise. (Cost $36 per person)

See lovely gardens and waterways as you admire the Lingering Garden. Later visit the Silk Spinning Factory for an insight into the history of Chinese silk manufacturing. Continue a coach ride to Hangzhou where you will spend one night at the Brain International Hotel or similar. Hangzhou – renowned as ‘heavenly beauty’ and later today, you will enjoy a leisurely cruise on the West Lake.

Hangzhou is the tea capital of China, you will take a drive to a local Tea House at Meijiawu Tea Village as well as enjoy the natural environment and beautiful village scenery while learning more about the authentic tea culture and learn how to make the Longjing Tea including tea leaves picking, detailed process of stir-frying tea and tasting. Followed by a coach journey to Shanghai for two nights at the Holiday Inn Express or similar. Upon arrival, explore this gracious and cosmopolitan city, visit the old charm of the Bund as you walk along the park-like waterfront promenade with gorgeous views of the old and new Shanghai.
