1

1: SYDNEY / BEIJING

Depart Sydney on your China Eastern Airlines flight to Beijing. On arrival you will be welcomed and transferred to the New Otani Hotel for four nights.

2: BEIJING

Today, visit Beijing’s most significant sights. You will be impressed by the vast open Tiananmen Square in the heart of Beijing. Stroll through the Forbidden City, the world’s best preserved imperial palace complex and a lasting monument of dynastic China for nearly 500 years. Continue to the Temple of Heaven, it was here that the emperor would make sacrifices and pray to heaven and his ancestors at the winter solstice, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a public park. Enjoy a performance of “Legend of Kung Fu” this evening.

3: BEIJING

An exciting morning visit to China’s most iconic symbol, the Great Wall. Once you set foot on the wall, you will be in awe of the longest, oldest and most labour-intensive projects in mankind’s history. En-route, stop at a jade carving workshop to learn about the Chinese jade culture. Then head to the Summer Palace, the former imperial retreat which is beautifully landscaped – palaces and pavilions dot a wooded hillside that overlooks a series of beautiful lakes.

4: BEIJING

This morning explore by cycle rickshaw through the ‘hutongs’ – ‘the back alleys’ – which reveal the charms of old Beijing. Your lunch will be arranged at one of the local family homes where you can obtain a glimpse into their lifestyle. The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure – you may like to visit some of the finest local Museums or shop till you drop at the markets, the choice is yours. This evening enjoy the local specialty, a Peking Duck Dinner.

5: BEIJING / XIAN

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Xian where you will spend two nights at the Grand Noble Hotel. Afternoon visit to Chinese-styled Great Mosque located in the heart of the Muslim Quarter.

6: XIAN

Marvel at the amazing silent army of the Terracotta Warriors that were made to guard the tomb of China’s first emperor and see the unearthed bronze chariots on display in the Exhibition Hall. Continue to the modern Shaanxi History Museum where you will see relics which date back to prehistoric times. Later this afternoon, you are invited to attend a welcome reception and a special welcome ceremony at the 14th Century Old City Wall to mark the celebration of 2017 China-Australia Tourism Year.

7: XIAN / HANGZHOU

Early this morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Hangzhou. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred for a leisurely morning cruise on West Lake which is renowned as ‘heavenly beauty’. Then venture into the countryside to discover the tea terraces before returning to the city where you will spend one night at the Holiday Inn Hotel.

8: HANGZHOU / SYDNEY

Day at leisure to explore Hangzhou on your own. This afternoon, farewell China as you are transferred to the airport for your overnight flight home.
