SUN: Australia/Beijing

Depart Australia on your Cathay Pacific Airways flight to Beijing via Hong Kong. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the Beijing International Hotel for five nights.

MON-TUE-WED-THU: Beijing

Four full days touring sights that capture the imagination – the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, the splendours of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. See the pandas at Beijing Zoo and visit the Silk Market. Take a boat on Shishahai Lake, surrounded by princes’ houses and celebrity residences. Tour the ‘hutongs’ (back alleys) by cycle rickshaw for a behind-the-scenes look at traditional Chinese life. Spend a day at Sacred Way, the Exhibition Hall of the Ming Tombs and the Great Wall. Enjoy a Peking Duck dinner and a performance of "The Legend of Kung Fu".

FRI: Beijing/Xian

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Xian where you will spend two nights at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel. Enjoy a cultural show with dinner at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.

SAT: Xian

In Xian you will marvel at amazing cultural and archaeological wonders – the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi huang, the Chariot Exhibition, the Shaanxi History Museum and the Xian city wall.

SUN: Xian/Shanghai

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Shanghai where you will spend three nights at the Central Hotel. This afternoon visit the impressive Shanghai museum. An evening acrobatic show will be arranged.

MON-TUE: Shanghai

See the colonial concessions along the Bund for a spectacular view of Shanghai “yesterday and today”. Enjoy the sound and light show in the tunnel ride across the Huangpu River to Pudong, stopping at Jin Mao Tower, one of the world’s tallest buildings. Stroll the twisting alleyways of Chinatown and visit Yu Garden, followed by a Huangpu river cruise. Next day enjoy a short cruise beneath stone bridges at Zhouzhuang, where tile-roofed houses crowd the canals.

WED: Shanghai/Australia
