SUN: AUSTRALIA/BEIJING

Depart Australia on your Cathay Pacific Airways flight to Beijing via Hong Kong. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the Beijing Marriott City Wall Hotel for five nights.

MON-TUE-WED-THU: BEIJING

Four days visiting fascinating sights such as the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Tour the Sacred Way, the Exhibition Hall of the Ming Tombs and the Great Wall. See the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo, stroll along the ancient Qin Men Avenue and stop at the Silk Market. Witness the ‘hutongs’ – the ‘back alley’ – by cycle rickshaw and dine with a local family where you can obtain a glimpse into their lifestyle. Enjoy a Peking Duck dinner and a performance of ‘The Legend of Kung Fu’ during your stay.

FRI: BEIJING/XIAN

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Xian and stay two nights at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel. Enjoy a cultural show with dinner at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.

SAT: XIAN

In Xian marvel at amazing archaeological wonders – the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the Chariot Exhibition, the Shaanxi History Museum and the 14th Century old City Wall.

SUN: XIAN/GUILIN

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Guilin and stay two nights at the Guilin Bravo Hotel. Enjoy an evening cultural show.

MON: LI RIVER CRUISE

Take a cruise along the Li River. See landscapes of craggy mist-shrouded peaks, unusual rock formations and fishermen working on bamboo rafts. Arrive at the village of Yangshuo and browse small stores and street stalls before returning to your hotel by coach.

TUE: GUILIN/SHANGHAI

Morning visit to Reed Flute Cave. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Shanghai and stay three nights at the Central Hotel. This evening, enjoy an acrobatic show.

WED-THU: SHANGHAI

Spend a day exploring this gracious and cosmopolitan city. See the former Colonial Concessions along the Bund for a view of the ‘yesterday & today’ of Shanghai. Enjoy the sound and light show in the unique “cable car” tunnel ride beneath the Huangpu River to Pudong and stop at the soaring Jin Mao Tower for a breathtaking panorama of the city. Stroll along the alleyways of Old Chinatown, visit the Yu Garden and enjoy a river cruise before returning to your hotel. Next day visit Zhouzhuang, and see traditional tile-roofed houses along the canals as you cruise beneath stone arched bridges.

FRI: SHANGHAI/AUSTRALIA

Farewell China as you board the Maglev, the world’s fastest train for a ride to the airport to join your overnight flight home.
