Depart Australia to Beijing. On arrival, transfer to the New Otani Hotel for four nights.
Today, visiting Beijing’s most significant sights – start in the heart of the city at Tiananmen Square, continue to the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace and China’s most impressive architectural complex. Make a stop at the Temple of Heaven, a chance to see the locals doing recreation activities at the Park. Enjoy a performance of ‘The Legend of Kung Fu’ this evening.

An exciting morning visit China’s most iconic symbol - the Great Wall. Once you set foot on the wall, you will be impressed by the longest, oldest and most labour-intensive projects in mankind’s history. En-route stop at a Jade carving workshop to learn about the Chinese Jade culture. Head out to the Summer Palace, the former imperial retreat which beautifully landscaped - palaces and pavilions dot a wooded hillside that overlooks a series of beautiful lakes.
Explore by cycle rickshaw through the ‘hutongs’ – ‘the back alleys’ reveals the charm of old Beijing, your lunch will be arranged at one of the local
family homes where you can obtain a glimpse into their lifestyle. The afternoon is at your leisure - you may like to visit some of the finest local Museums or shop till you drop at the markets, the choice is yours. This evening enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner.

Fly to Xian where you will spend two nights at the Grand Noble Hotel. Take an afternoon walk on the 14th Century Old City Wall which surrounds the historic city. Enjoy a cultural show with dinner at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.

Marvel at amazing silent army of the Terracotta Warriors that were made to guard the tomb of the first China’s emperor and see his unearthed bronze chariots on display in the Exhibition Hall. Continue to Xian’s premier attractions, the modern Shaanxi History Museum where you will find relics dates back prehistoric times.
Fly to Jiuzhaigou (Valley of Nine Fortified Villages), one of China’s most scenic reserves and a UNESCO World Heritage site with an elevation over 3000 meter above sea level. Spend two nights at the Intercontinental Jiuzhai Paradise Resort.
Today, you will be astounded by this beautiful alpine mountain valleys dotted with Tibetan villages, snow-capped mountains, incredible waterfalls and magnificient blue lakes said to be the broken slivers of the Tibetan goddess Semo’s Mirror.
Fly to Chengdu and stay at the Intercontinental Century City Hotel. Spend your afternoon in the old alley which is lined with traditional architecture from the Qing Dynasty. Expect to see quaint restaurants, traditional teahouses and more to experience the life of old Chengdu. This evening, enjoy a customary performance of ‘Changing Face’.

One of your highlights of your China experience will be when you see the adorable pandas in the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. Later visit the conservation complex which focuses on the evolution, habits and habitats of pandas. Visit Sanxingdui Museum and see the drama-charged bronze masks dating from the Shang Dynasty. This evening enjoy a special Sichuan Cuisine dinner
WED: CHENGDU/CHONGQING/YANGTZE CRUISE
Morning at leisure till transfer to the station for your high-speed train to Chongqing where you will be met and transferred to the pier to board your Victoria Cruise.
Visit Shibaozhai - this is a beautiful 12 storey red pavilion leans against the side of the hill. Back to the cruise ship and enjoy day activities on board.
This morning, be impressed by the steep walls and tight channels when ‘Katrina’ passes through the Qutang and Wu Gorges. One of the highlights of the whole Yangtze cruise is today’s excursion when detouring by small boat up the ever-narrowing waters to the Goddess Stream or Shennong Stream. Late afternoon, watch the ship sailing through the largest world’s lock system. (subject to water levels and navigation authority advice).
Disembak at Yichang and fly to Shanghai, stay three nights at the Central Hotel.
Spend a day exploring this gracious and cosmopolitan city. See the former Colonial Concessions along the Bund for a view of the ‘yesterday & today’ of Shanghai. Travel to Pudong and stop at the soaring Jin Mao Tower for a breathtaking panorama of the city. Stroll along the alleyways of Old Chinatown, visit the Yu Garden and enjoy a river cruise before returning to your hotel. This evening enjoy an acrobatic show.
Another exciting day to discover Zhujiajiao, ancient water town with cobble stone lanes and well-preserved Ming and Qing buildings. Enjoy this charming and traditional town as you cruise along the canals and drift beneath stone arched bridges. End the day at Tianzi Fang where many artists and local designers have set up art studios and galleries – a great chance to shop at the boutiques or just relax at one of the street café. A farewell dinner will be arranged.
Farewell China as you board the Maglev, the world’s fastest train, for a ride to the airport to join your overnight flight home.
