Depart Australia on your Cathay Pacific Airways flight to Shanghai. On arrival, transfer to the Central Hotel and enjoy your three nights stay.
Spend a day exploring this gracious and cosmopolitan city. See the former Colonial Concessions along the Bund for a view of the ‘yesterday & today’ of Shanghai. Travel to Pudong and stop at the soaring Jin Mao Tower for a breathtaking panorama of the city. Stroll along the alleyways of Old Chinatown, visit the Yu Garden and enjoy a river cruise before returning to your hotel. This evening enjoy an acrobatic show.

Morning visit to the impressive Shanghai Museum, then drive to Tianzi Fang where many artists and local designers have set up art studios and galleries – a great chance to shop at the boutiques or just relax at one of the street café.

Coach to Wuzhen, a 1000 year old water town embraced by the Grand Canal and intersected by countless rivers and small canals. Stay two nights at the Holiday Inn in Hangzhou. Tonight enjoy the lake side musical production ‘Impression West Lake’ (closed in winter).
Enjoy your leisurely morning cruise on the West Lake – renowned as ‘heavenly beauty’. Then venture into the countryside to discover the tea terraces before we make a stop at the Pagoda of Six Harmonies

Depart by train to Suzhou and stay two nights at the Holliday Inn Jasmine Hotel. See lovely gardens and waterways as you admire the Humble Administrator’s Garden. Later, visit the Suzhou Silk Museum before joining a short cruise along the canals. Enjoy an evening cultural show in the Master of the Nets Garden. (closed in winter)
SAT: SUZHOU/YANGTZE CRUISE
Transfer to Shanghai and fly to Yichang where you will be transferred to the pier to embark on your Victoria Cruise ship ‘Katarina’ this evening. During your cruise, enjoy your all day free tea or coffee and ‘happy hour’ free house wine and beer as part of the value added ‘Exclusive Amenity Package’

SUN: THREE GORGES DAM SITE
The landscape of the Yangtze River has been changed since the completion of the Three Gorges Dam where you will make an excursion to this site this morning. Then enjoy your spectacular day sailing along the mighty river through the ship locks and Xiling Gorge.
One of the highlights of the Yangtze cruise is today when detouring by small boat up the ever-narrowing waters to the Goddess Stream or Shennong Stream
(subject to water levels and navigation authority advice). Return to the ship and be impressed by the steep walls and tight channels when ‘Katarina’ passes through the Wu and Qutang Gorges.
Visit Shibaozhai - a beautiful 12-storey red pavilion leans against the side of the hill. Back to the cruise ship and enjoy day activities on board.
Disembark this morning at Chongqing, transfer to the airport for your flight to Guilin where you will spend two nights at the Bravo Hotel to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of Guilin and its surroundings.
THU: LI RIVER CRUISE
Enjoy a relaxing and unforgettable cruise south along the Li River. See unique landscapes that are depicted on Chinese scroll paintings. The shallow river weaves between sheer-sided karst peaks. People here still travel the river on low bamboo rafts often using trained cormorants to catch fish. The cruise arrives at bustling village of Yangshuo and browse small stores and street stalls before returning to your hotel by coach.
This morning visit the famous Reed Flute Cave and Seven Star Park. Fly to Kunming and stay two nights at the Grand Park Hotel.
Wander through the astonishing rock formations of the Stone Forest with limestone pillars as tall as 30 metres. This evening witness ‘Dynamic Yunnan’ - a phenomenal cultural show profiling the many ethnic cultures of the Yunnan Province.
Fly to Lijiang and stay three nights at the InterContinental Lijiang Hotel. The old town of Lijiang is criss-crossed with canals, cobbled streets and ornate wooden buildings and it is extremely pretty. Visit the Black Dragon Pool Park with the backdrop of the snow-capped mountain.
See the 500 year old Camellia tree when you visit the Yufeng Lamasery. Take a chairlift up the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and enjoy a walk through the spruce forests. Enjoy ‘Impression Lijiang’ – a magnificent outdoor show demonstrating the tradition and lifestyle of the local ethnic people.
Depart on the scenic drive to the first bend of the Yangtze before continuing to one of the world’s deepest gorges, Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Fly to Xian where you will stay two nights at the Grand Noble Hotel.
Marvel at amazing Army of the Terracotta Warriors, made to guard the tomb of the first China’s emperor. See the unearthed bronze chariots on display in the Exhibition Hall. Continue to Xian’s premier attractions, the modern Shaanxi History Museum, where you will find relics dating back to prehistoric times. Enjoy a cultural show with dinner at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.
This morning, take a walk on the 14th Century Old City Wall. Fly to Beijing and transfer to the New Otani Hotel for four nights.
An exciting morning to China’s historic symbol – the Great Wall, once you set foot on the wall, you will be appreciated by this longest, oldest and most labour-intensive projects in mankind’s history. En-route stop at the Jade Carving Workshop. Head out to the Summer Palace, the former imperial retreat is beautifully landscaped; palaces and pavilions dot a wooded hillside that overlooks a series of pretty lakes.
Today visiting Beijing’s most significant sights – start in the heart of the city at Tiananmen Square, continue to the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace and China’s most impressive architectural complex. Visit the Temple of Heaven and meet the locals at the park. Enjoy a performance of ‘The legend of Kung Fu’ this evening.
This Morning explore Beijing by cycle rickshaw through the ‘hutongs’ – ‘the back alleys’ reveals the charm of old Beijing, your lunch will be arranged at a local family home, where you can capture a glimpse into their lifestyle. An afternoon is free. This evening enjoy a Peking Duck dinner.
Farewell China as you transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home.
