Travel to Taian, gateway to Mt Tai for one night.
Travel up Mt Tai, at 1545 metres the most revered of China’s five sacred mountains. Successive emperors from Han, Tang and Song to the Ming and Qing dynasties were compelled to climb Mt Tai to preside over their religious ceremonies. Mt Tai has inspired writers and artists throughout the centuries. Continue onto Qingdao for two nights.
Explore the extensive parks and gardens and Qingdao’s architecture reflecting its German and Japanese influences. In 1898, the Manchu government ceded the town to Germany after a diplomatic row during the Boxer Rebellion, and the famous Qingdao Brewery was established.
