Full day at Stone Forest, 80 hectares of bizarrely-shaped limestone cliffs formed by erosion after the sea bed was thrust up 270 million years ago.

Visit the three towering pagodas of San Ta Si, built over 1,000 years ago between Lake Erhai and snow-capped Cangshan Mountain. Continue onto the market at Xizhou and admire houses built in the original Bai architectural style. Enjoy a ‘Bai Flavour’ lunch including the 'Three Courses Tea' ceremony and a traditional dance performance. Visit Zhoucheng with its charming preserved courtyard houses and laneways.
Drive 5 hours to Lijiang, high amongst mountains near the border with Tibet and centre of the Naxi minority people. Spend three nights at Crowne Plaza Hotel Lijiang. The old city is a “living museum” with ornately carved buildings and teahouses and a maze of cobbled streets crowded with Naxi women in traditional dress. Visit the Black Dragon Pool Park set against the Jade Dragon Snow mountain.
Visit the Yufeng Lamasery and admire the 500-year-old camellia tree. Take a chairlift up Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and walk through spruce forests that thrive at this 3,000 metre height. Enjoy a dance and song performance of the region's minority nationalities.
Drive to the First Bend of the Yangtze River and continue to Tiger Leaping Gorge. Spanning 16 km long, the gorge reaches 3,900 metres from its waters to snow-capped mountain peaks.
Fly back to Kunming for one night.
