Today visit Yungang Buddhist Caves which house some of the earliest examples of stone carvings and ranked Datong as a major cultural centre. Visit the 1400 year old Hanging Monastery with halls and pavilions built along the contours of the cliff. Stay one night at the Hua Hui Hotel in Wutaishan.

Explore the charming monastic village centred on Wutaishan which is known for its treasure trove of temples, colourful buildings, fine sculptures and frescoes. Late afternoon travel onto Taiyuan and stay two nights at the Yuyuan Hotel.
Morning visit to Twin Pagoda Temple. Travel by coach to Pingyao, a traditional Han Chinese city and a World Heritage site. Surrounded by one of the few intact Ming city walls, Pingyao is exceptionally well-preserved with town planning reminiscent of Imperial China. A stop will be made at the Qiao Jia Dayuan, an exquisite courtyard house where the award winning movie ‘Raise the Red Lantern’ was filmed.
