Today visit the Kong Family Mansion and Confucius Temple occupying 22 hectares and similar in size and magnificence to the Palace Museum in Beijing. Continue onto the Kong Family Forest, one of the best-preserved ancestral cemeteries and see the tomb of Confucius which is approached by an impressive avenue of large stone guardian creatures.
Travel to the gateway town of Taian and stay one night at the Hotel.
Take a cable car 1545 metres up to Mt. Tai, the most revered of China’s five sacred mountains and often a source of inspiration to writers and artists. Travel onto Qingdao and stay two nights at the Hotel.
A full day to explore the parks and gardens of Qingdao and view architecture reflecting German and Japanese influences. After a diplomatic row with Germany during the Boxer Rebellion, the Manchu government ceded the city to Germany and the Qingdao Brewery was established.
