Visit Wat Xieng Khuan (Buddha Park) and That Luang, a golden stupa which is perhaps the most important national monument of Laos. Visit Ho Pha Keo, the former royal temple, Wat Si Muang and Patuxai, a monumental arch inspired by the Arc de Triomphe. Stop at Talaat Sao, the all day ‘morning market’.

Travel north to Vang Vieng and stay overnight. Visit Nam Ngum Lake, a man-made reservoir for hydroelectric power that generates most of the electricity sold in Thailand.
Morning visit to Than Phu Thao Cave and Tham Xang Cave which is also known as ‘elephant cave’. Continue to Phonsavanh for two nights.
Today visit the Plain of Jars, a large area extending around Phonsavanh where huge jars (some up to 1000kg) of unknown origin are scattered about in large groupings. Also stop at Muang Khoun, an ancient capital that was founded by Chao Noi Muang.
Visit the lively open market before travelling to Luang Prabang where you will stay for three nights.
Visit Wat Visoun (Wat Wisunalat), considered the oldest operating temple in Luang Prabang. Visit nearby Wat Aham before continuing to Wat Xieng Thong, the crowning jewel of all the monasteries. Climb Phousi Hill for a breathtaking view.
Travel the Mekong River to the Tham Pak Ou Caves. Stop at Ban Xang Hai village, famous for producing ‘lao lao’, the local rice wine whiskey. Travel onto Kuang Si waterfall and then the minority village of Ban Muang Khai. Continue to Ban The Pene, a nearby village before returning to Luang Prabang.
Transfer to the airport.
